In this step, you will be asked to articulate the goals for Praise as a reward and reputation system. What you want to achieve and how you can later measure the success of those goals.

You will make decisions about the Praise parameters that need to be configured and who will take on what responsibilities to make sure Praise runs well.

Step 1 checklist:

Introduce Praise to stakeholders

Who are the community stakeholders? If they have not yet been introduced to Praise, this is a good time to do a demo for them about Praise and then get ready to open a discussion about Praise goals and the decision to come.

Here is the demo that the Praise Product Manager, Kristofer, gave to the Giveth community

Discuss and decide

Stakeholders should discuss and make decisions on some key configuration options for Praise.

One of the first decisions to make is who will join the Reward team and who will take on the responsibilities of the roles described below.

The Reward team is responsible for configuring and managing Praise. They mint or custody tokens, distribute them and inform the community about Praise, quantification, distributions, etc.

Good candidates for the Reward team are knowledgeable about the community, are reliable, and have the bandwidth for about 1-2 hours per week to dedicate to Praise.

Reward team roles

Here are the key roles in Praise and their responsibilities:

Role Description Responsibilities
Praise Lead This is the main Praise POC for the community. It is the community-facing person that coordinates and represents Praise to the community. Responsibilities include:

Role Description Responsibilities
Quantifiers This is the group of people responsible for quantifying praise, i.e., giving each praise a score.

(Number of quantifiers is a configuration option that can be changed at any time. Individual quantifiers can be added or removed. It is also possible to have quantifiers automatically selected from a pool.) | - Read Praise documentation.

(Praise Givers is a configuration option that can restrict who can dish praise. This is useful for communities that want to restrict dishing praise to a specific group of people.) | - Read and understand how to use Praise

Here is a list of topics and discussion prompts to get a good conversation going about expectations for Praise and the decisions that need to be made.
